Apparently it is for live preview of your font, but I'd rather preview with my own text. Also you no longer hold down shift to constrain proportions when you scale. Try unlearning that muscle memory from years of doing that. Now it is opposite.

Animate CC and text, something to be aware of
somnamblst replied to somnamblst's topic in Banner Animation
Turned out my issue was that the vector lockups that I had pasted from InDesign to Illustrator, to Animate, had some Dynamic text fields, despite my not having created any of the text. So that is why Impact reverted to Times. I know nothing about InDesign so not sure how that happened. -
If you don't see anything that meets your needs Studio does have chat. https://www.google.com/doubleclick/studio/ Expandables that deploy once without user interaction, and then contract to a pencil, that allows reexpansion on click, are called pre expandables. The 970x250 one is called an IAB billboard.

I ended up pursuing incorporating Animate CC with Doubleclick Studio Dynamic successfully, (including creating Publish templates, that allow any designer to output Dynamic), despite Studio support absolutely being on record that they can't (don't want to) provide support, if you are using Animate. My coworker did a preliminary GWD Dynamic campaign with white glove support from Google, leading the way. The consensus was that GWD had several disadvantages. GWD is slow. GWD is no Animate. Using web fonts, rather than whatever font you want, varied the LTF of a lockup, substantially. Over the years I have saved lots of DCRM HTML5 templates, that for the most part seem to have been removed from the database.

DoubleClick Studio for standard HTML5 ads
somnamblst replied to marcopolo's topic in Banner Animation
Using Studio for not Rich Media is optional. Most would not, because there are impression fees. Some don't care. There are reasons to like great tear sheets, and pushing the ad directly to DCM. Some don't know, they don't need to use Studio, post SWF era, because during the SWF era, any ad that involved more than one file (SWF) and one backup image, had to be Rich Media.- 1 reply

Google DoubleClick Custom Dynamic Banners
somnamblst replied to Bradley Lancaster's topic in Banner Animation
While Doubleclick does not require GWD, they definitely push you towards that solution, and have no active forum for Studio creative. The Doubleclick Studio dynamic template files are from 2014, and from what I can tell, any newer template activity in the database is all GWD. That being said, there is live chat when you are logged into Studio, and they are very helpful, just don't mention Animate. I was able to determine that Animate CC canvas exports can play well with enabler.js, using z-index. You just have to change your images export path to ./ as Studio does not work with subfolders. -
Help with Video Component in Adobe Animate
somnamblst replied to georgeripton's topic in Banner Animation
I have had video play in banners using the Youtube API or just the HTML5 video tag. If you send me your email address, I will send you the modified HTML file that combines the video with the Animate generated HTML file. Back in the actionscript FLV days, videos did stream from Flash servers. I may be wrong, but Netstream seems to apply to actionscript. I used the DCM HTML5 validator and determined that including a video in your zip fails. So both successful video banner campaigns, had video residing elsewhere. (Youtube or AWS or Doubleclick Studio assets. -
I have successfully created a Doubleclick Dynamic feed Studio Animate CC sandwich. DCRM is the bread, and Animate CC is the lunch meat. With Animate Publish templates, any designer can create DCRM dynamic without ever having to edit HTML and JS files, and without using the hated GWD. My Studio bgexit is z-index 100. Does anyone with extensive Studio experience know if it can be the bottom, rather than the top slice of bread?

Google DoubleClick Custom Dynamic Banners
somnamblst replied to Bradley Lancaster's topic in Banner Animation
I have just successfully combined Animate CC Canvas animation with Doubleclick Rich Media Studio served Dynamic content, using z-index. And I was able to incorporate all the DCRM stuff in an Animate publish template, so all the designers will be able to create their own DCRM creatives. Edited to add DCRM support are dicks when they find out you are using Canvas. -
It has been awhile: Doubleclick Studio error
somnamblst replied to somnamblst's topic in Banner Animation
When in doubt start over. I started with a DCRM inpage 300x600 template and added my animation and video to that template, rather than adding enabler and script to my file, and all is well. -
It has been awhile: Doubleclick Studio error
somnamblst replied to somnamblst's topic in Banner Animation
Thanks. That is not it. I added enabler and the script that initializes it. I just uploaded the Doubleclick provided sample file which has way more than one asset, so there is something else triggering this error message. It does have an HTML5 video tag, that does not use any Doubleclick method of serving video. -
Though I had Doubleclick Studio certifications from the SWF days I am frustrated by this error message. My files are an HTML file, a JS file and my default backup image. For creative I chose banner/300x600. The error is You uploaded the wrong number of assets with Enabler components for this creative. The creative must have exactly 1 asset(s) with Enabler. Googling that message comes up with nothing applicable. I thought I would ask before I try just pathing to my JS file parked in assets.

Animate Commons is out with a free extension for Animate CC
somnamblst replied to somnamblst's topic in Banner Animation
I finally had a reason to use this for a banner campaign and a reason to figure out why it quit working. It does no longer work with Animate CC 17 or 18. It does still work with Animate CC 2015.2 I have no idea why. But I do suspect the publish template is the culprit. -
ClickTag click count doubles only on mobile devices?
somnamblst replied to a topic in Banner Animation
It has been a long time ago, so my memory is fuzzy. I was asked to troubleshoot some SWFs that had crazy high clickthroughs. The crazy high clickthroughs were a result of double and triple counting (more clicks than impressions). I used the AdOps tool that could show the actionscript in a SWF without having an FLA to examine. There was some made no sense extra clicktag actionscript that did not break the clickability. Never solved why, but one suspected motivation is that crazy high clickthroughs make the banner ads creator look good. Post SWF it would be easy to add something like that after the fact. I actually worked with sales reps who would go home and click on their advertisers' banner ads repeatedly. An improperly implemented close button (text, no hit area) and no close on roll off, on an expandable actually made the monthly sales brag session with something like 99% clickthrough. Keeping advertisers happy is the only way sales people stay employed. -
Google will no longer support HTML5 ads with clickability!
somnamblst replied to volcanoflash's topic in Banner Animation
AdWords is the most restrictive of all Doubleclick/Google's offerings. They were the last to allow hosted library files. AdWords are the cheapest ads. Could they be nudging people towards publishing for DCM, DFP or DCRM? -
Google doesn't allow longer than 30 seconds?
somnamblst replied to Eugene Rayner's topic in Banner Animation
I won't block ads because democracy depends on a vigilant press. Ad blockers steal content. that being said, subscribe to the Washington Post and the NY Times. -
Google doesn't allow longer than 30 seconds?
somnamblst replied to Eugene Rayner's topic in Banner Animation
You have to realize the only cops on the "how long is your animation" beat, are the poor AdOps people who just want to get all those ads booked and go home. In the SWF days the no clickTag was literally a deal killer that no one could fix for the advertiser without an FLA. The reason for the rule is, looping animation is annoying, whether the AdOps peeps enforce it or not. I do loop subtle effects, like stars in a galaxy, underwater, snow falling, landed butterfly wings flapping, etc. but would never loop copy animation. Because it is annoying. -
In addition a delayed clickTag could fail ad server validation.

Clipping masks in Animate CC using GSAP
somnamblst replied to Tony.hunt5687's topic in Banner Animation
I just tried to animate a mask using a createjs frame script and it did not budge. Found this previously asked question. Appears a scripted mask is not possible.
