I read your question a few times and I'm still fuzzy on what exactly you're asking. You want to allow the user to drag one element, but as soon as they press on it, it totally shifts and you create another whole cloned element that you ALSO want to move along with that same element (so now TWO of them are being dragged)? Or are you saying you want to add a clone that causes layout shifts, moving the dragging element out from underneath the pointer...but you want to force it back to where it was (under the pointer) for the duration of the drag? Please be very specific.
