rotating odomter effect with splittext

I'm in the process of figuring out splittext. I'm trying to build a carousel of text messages that rotate in the manner of an old school odometer. I'm running into issues with when to use splittext. Would welcome your help.

I can't quite figure out what you're trying to do or what the problem is that you're describing (you only mention "I'm running into issues" but I don't know what that means). Don't odometers rotate in vertically one letter/number at a time? It looks like you're animating each line instead. 

 

Maybe try an even more reduced case and give us some details about what exactly the question is and we'll do our best to help.
