  1. I was having similar issues trying to create this reveal effect by line. I found the old post referenced by Shrug and then found this solution written in GSAP 3 formatting... exactly what I was looking for, only the pen isn't working. At least when I try and run it. Has this been adjusted since creation?
  2. Sorry Zach, somehow I totally missed that!
  3. Thanks to everyone in this thread, great topic. As Zach may remember from my email... I would LOVE to see an official recommendation if and when one may arise. Used carefully, smooth scrolling can make the already super smooth animations even slicker, https://katiforner.com/ is a great example of that. That said... kohlej's animations built on Blakes awesome example seems to work perfectly, what else would need to be solved for it to be used in production? Best, David
  4. Thank you so much, this is beyond the kind of response I was hoping for! So helpful to have some feedback before I learn too many bad methods and awesome that you made a new timelined version for comparison. I will definitely pull out the non-tweenables going forward because it's much cleaner that way and the use of defaults is exactly the kind of thing i was looking for to keep things tidy ( I actually just watched a little video on use of defaults in the Creative Coding Club video series on GSAP which was also helpful). Seems like it's also possible to nest timelines so I guess defaults could also be set on each if necessary. ... ah gotcha! I could see the advanced sequencing would improve things but hadn't really considered how I would then actually manipulate the animation. I'm a little unsure about how you've used the add() calls and labels so i'll read up on that this evening. Thanks again Shaun
  5. I started learning GSAP yesterday and made my first basic tween, so much fun. The tween works OK but before I move on to another and likely repeat obvious mistakes I was wondering if somebody could kindly take a brief look at the GSAP code and advise on mistakes / better organisation. There are plenty of very similar requests, is their a best practice that combines them into single lines or is that just not necessary? And secondly, I was considering adding this to a timeline but couldn't necessarily see how that would be beneficial for this specific case.. would it be overkill? From reading the docs a timeline could make it easier to manage animations if I later wanted to adjust the timings later but is their any other benefit in this case? Best, David
  6. Just about to start learning GSAP whilst in lockdown, very excited! Also very interested in the upcoming scroll plugin! I was wondering if there will be a built in option to add momentum / inertia scrolling to pages within the plugin?? I know people can be very anti adjusting the scrollbar speed but clients do ask for it, it can also really improve the smooth flow of animations on scroll. I've used various plugins before but they are rarely maintained and are 'jumpy' in some browsers. Would be incredible to have something built into the GSAP scroll plugin to make this super easy, with cross browser support. Looks like lots of the sites in the showcase have adjusted the scroll behaviour.
