Pause Scroll Trigger for some time while scrolling and resume it

We have create a ScrollTrigger animation (Anim1) using ScrollTrigger Object.

const Anim1 = ScrollTrigger.create({
 trigger: "anim1",

 onEnter: () => { },

onLeave: () => { },

onEnterBack: () => { }

onLeaveBack: () => { }
})

Anim1 is running continuously while scrolling.

In between the page we are creating another animation (Anim2) on page scroll.  Once we encounter Anim2 we would like to pause Anim1 and continue running Anim2.

const Anim2 = ScrollTrigger.create({
 trigger: "anim2",

 onEnter: () => {

    // DIsable Anim1

 },

onLeave: () => {

  // Enable Anim1

},

onEnterBack: () => {

  // DIsable Anim1

}

onLeaveBack: () => {

// Enable Anim1

}

})

Once Anim2 is completed we want to resume Anim1 again. We tried disabling Anim1 using disable method but onEnter/onLeave/onEnterBack/onLeaveBack methods still getting called. Please suggest.

Without a minimal demo, it's very difficult to troubleshoot; the issue could be caused by CSS, markup, a third party library, a 3rd party script, etc. Would you please provide a very simple CodePen or Stackblitz that illustrates the issue?

Please don't include your whole project. Just some colored <div> elements and the GSAP code is best. See if you can recreate the issue with as few dependencies as possible. Start minimal and then incrementally add code bit by bit until it breaks. Usually people solve their own issues during this process! If not, at least we have a reduced test case which greatly increases your chances of getting a relevant answer.

See the Pen aYYOdN by GreenSock (@GreenSock) on CodePen

that loads all the plugins. Just click "fork" at the bottom right and make your minimal demo

Using a framework/library like React, Vue, Next, etc.?

CodePen isn't always ideal for these tools, so here are some Stackblitz starter templates that you can fork and import the gsap-trial NPM package for using any of the bonus plugins:

Please share the StackBlitz link directly to the file in question (where you've put the GSAP code) so we don't need to hunt through all the files.

Once we see an isolated demo, we'll do our best to jump in and help with your GSAP-specific questions.

Hi @Prathamesh and welcome to the GSAP Forums!

Indeed without a minimal demo there is not a lot we can do.

On a quick glimpse of your code I can see this:

const Anim1 = ScrollTrigger.create({
  trigger: "anim1",
  onEnter: () => { },
  onLeave: () => { },
  onEnterBack: () => { } // <- MISSING COMMA HERE
  onLeaveBack: () => { }
})

The trigger element you're passing is not a valid selector. GSAP will use anim1 and try to find that element in the DOM:

document.querySelectorAll("anim1"); // => NodeList []

So basically there is nothing being selected and you're passing an empty node list to GSAP.

In both snippets you have a missing comma, so you should be getting an error there.

Finally thanks for being a Club GSAP member and supporting GSAP! 💚

Happy Tweening!
