Issue with pinning element animation, being jumpy while translating x value on scroll.

Any help would be appreciated greatly here, I've read the docs thoroughly and haven't had much luck with this.

Basically of scroll of my pinned section (third section), it's as if it recalculates scroll values and makes the horizontal effect a little jumpy initially, after which is resolves and can't be replicated until a page refresh. I've just tried the fastScrollEnd and preventOverlaps but seemed to make worse.

This is the code in question, I thought it may of been because I was animating the right value beforehand but I sinced changed it to 'x'. I also have no other pinned sections on the page.

let scrollWidth = window.innerWidth > 768 ? self.elements.projectsHomeCards.scrollWidth/1.3 + 40 : self.elements.projectsHomeCards.scrollWidth/1.2 + 60

gsap.set(self.elements.projectsHomeCards, { x: window.innerWidth + 40 });
gsap.to(self.elements.projectsHomeCards, {
  x: -self.elements.projectsHomeCards.scrollWidth + window.innerWidth / 2,
  ease: "none",
  scrollTrigger: {
    trigger: self.elements.projectsHome.parentNode,
    fastScrollEnd: true,
    preventOverlaps: true,
    pin: true,
    scrub: 1,
    end: () => "+=" + (scrollWidth)
  }
})

Any advice here or areas to explore? thanks in advance.

Without a minimal demo, it's very difficult to troubleshoot; the issue could be caused by CSS, markup, a third party library, a 3rd party script, etc. Would you please provide a very simple CodePen or Stackblitz that illustrates the issue?

Also have you seen gsap.matchMedia() which solves a lot of issues when needing to animation on different screen sizes https://gsap.com/docs/v3/GSAP/gsap.matchMedia()/

Also check out Function-based values https://gsap.com/docs/v3/GSAP/gsap.to()/#function-based-values which gets new values if it sees a ScrollTrigger.refresh()

Please don't include your whole project. Just some colored <div> elements and the GSAP code is best. See if you can recreate the issue with as few dependancies as possible. Start minimal and then incrementally add code bit by bit until it breaks. Usually people solve their own issues during this process! If not, at least we have a reduced test case which greatly increases your chances of getting a relevant answer.

See the Pen aYYOdN by GreenSock (@GreenSock) on CodePen

that loads all the plugins. Just click "fork" at the bottom right and make your minimal demo

Using a framework/library like React, Vue, Next, etc.?

CodePen isn't always ideal for these tools, so here are some Stackblitz starter templates that you can fork and import the gsap-trial NPM package for using any of the bonus plugins:

Please share the StackBlitz link directly to the file in question (where you've put the GSAP code) so we don't need to hunt through all the files.

Once we see an isolated demo, we'll do our best to jump in and help with your GSAP-specific questions.

Actually I've found what the issue seems to be. Previously I implemented a ScrollTrigger.refresh() for lazy loaded images. I believe as the project card images were loading (on horizontal scroll) it was calling this and thus causing a slight jump briefly, I've just disabled this refresh only on these images and it seems to have fixed it.

Please mark this as resolved.
