Why does rotating an element affect the transformOrigin of it's parent?

If you uncomment the block at line 37 you'll see what I mean. I'm trying to counter-rotate the pedals but doing so changes how the parent element (#pedals) rotates. If someone could explain why this happens I'd be very grateful.

Hey Jack and welcome to the GreenSock forums. This issue is because of where you placed the the transformOrigin within the tween. It should either go in the fromVars or you could just .set() it before the tweens themselves:
