Delay a callback function

Hello

I am pretty new to this forum, and am learning lots about Greensock.

I have 4 panels which are shown after each other with a stagger.

now each of these panels has a lottie file in them that needs to start playing once the panel appears.

I  tried this with the onComplete method and they do start playing but too late. (They start after all panels appeared, I want each lottie file to start playing once the panel it's on appears).

Stagger is probably not the right solution for this, could anyone point me in the right direction?

(any help is highly appreciated :)

	showMenuTl.to('.overlay-nav-li', {
		x: 0,
		duration: 0.8,
		//ease: 'Power4.easeOut',
		stagger: 0.9,
		onComplete:  () => {
			// start all lotties!

			arrlotties.forEach(function (elem) {

				elem.play();
			});
		},
	});

It's pretty tough to troubleshoot without a minimal demo - the issue could be caused by CSS, markup, a third party library, your browser, an external script that's totally unrelated to GSAP, etc. Would you please provide a very simple CodePen or Stackblitz that demonstrates the issue?

Please don't include your whole project. Just some colored <div> elements and the GSAP code is best. See if you can recreate the issue with as few dependancies as possible. If not, incrementally add code bit by bit until it breaks. Usually people solve their own issues during this process! If not, then at least we have a reduced test case which greatly increases your chances of getting a relevant answer.

Here's a starter CodePen that loads all the plugins. Just click "fork" at the bottom right and make your minimal demo

See the Pen aYYOdN by GreenSock (@GreenSock) on CodePen

Using a framework/library like React, Vue, Next, etc.?

CodePen isn't always ideal for these tools, so here are some Stackblitz starter templates that you can fork and import the gsap-trial NPM package for using any of the bonus plugins:

Please share the StackBlitz link directly to the file in question (where you've put the GSAP code) so we don't need to hunt through all the files.

Once we see an isolated demo, we'll do our best to jump in and help with your GSAP-specific questions.

Hi @thegirlinthecafe welcome to the forum!

With out a minimal demo it is hard to give the correct feedback. There is also a onComplete callback inside the stagger: {} object, which fires when each item in the stagger complets. Check out the following post

I've you need further assistance, please provide a minimal demo, so what we can take a more in-depth look. Hope it helps and happy tweening!

Hi,

If I understand what you're trying to do correctly, you can use the stagger configuration object to add an onComplete callback to that:

let i = 0;

showMenuTl.to('.overlay-nav-li', {
  x: 0,
  duration: 0.8,
  //ease: 'Power4.easeOut',
  stagger: {
    each: 0.8,
    onComplete: () => {
      arrlotties[i].play();
      i++;
    },
  },
});

Hopefully this helps.

Happy Tweening!
