Unexpected Line Breaks When Using Split Text

Hello! 

 

I just wondered if there are any common gotchas when it comes to using SplitText where the <p> tags contain <em> or <strong> tags (for example)? I'm currently getting fairly consistent issues with things such as full stops breaking to a new line on its own, but when I remove the <em> and <strong> tags and their associated styling (they are styled with different fonts to the rest of the text) the problem seems to resolve itself. 

I've read in the forums to check that the split is being run on the p tag rather than any containing elements and that doesn't appear to have resolved things, so I just wondered if there might be any other common ways to resolve that might be worth exploring.

Without a minimal demo, it's very difficult to troubleshoot; the issue could be caused by CSS, markup, a third party library, a 3rd party script, etc. Would you please provide a very simple CodePen or Stackblitz that illustrates the issue? 

 

Please don't include your whole project. Just some colored <div> elements and the GSAP code is best. See if you can recreate the issue with as few dependencies as possible. Start minimal and then incrementally add code bit by bit until it breaks. Usually people solve their own issues during this process! If not, at least we have a reduced test case which greatly increases your chances of getting a relevant answer.

Using a framework/library like React, Vue, Next, etc.?

Another option, if you are splitting by chars, is to test smartWrap:

Give that a go and let us know. If you keep having issues the best way is to create a minimal demo, as mentioned.
