How can I enhance Chrome's performance when hardware acceleration is turned off using the tool?

Hello everyone, I've discovered that our website, https://www.shotblastingmachines.in/, isn’t loading as it should when Hardware Acceleration is disabled in the latest Chrome version (114).

Does anyone have tips or suggestions on how to improve the scrolling and loading performance with Hardware Acceleration turned off? It would be great if you could check out our site with acceleration off and share any ideas you have.

At Ambica Enterprises, we’ve also noticed that videos fail to load when acceleration is off, but work fine when it’s on.

Thanks & Regards!

Ambica Singh.

We love helping with GSAP-related questions, but unfortunately we just don't have the resources to provide free general consulting, logic troubleshooting, or "how do I recreate this cool effect I saw on another site?" tutorials. Of course anyone else is welcome to post an answer - we just want to manage expectations.

If you've got a GSAP-specific question just post that here along with a minimal demo and we'd be happy to take a look.

After more than ten years in web development, I’ve rarely seen discussions about why a regular user might disable hardware acceleration (HA). So, why would someone choose to turn it off? Here are a few key reasons:

  • To Extend Battery Life: One major reason users might disable hardware acceleration is to extend battery life. On laptops and mobile devices, HA can lead to higher power consumption because the GPU takes on additional tasks. By turning it off, users can save energy and get more usage time from their device.
  • To Resolve Compatibility Issues: Users often turn off HA to address compatibility issues. Some older or less powerful GPUs struggle with the demands of modern applications, causing glitches or crashes. Disabling HA can help stabilize performance and make applications run more smoothly.
  • To Fix Display Problems: Disabling HA can also help fix display issues. Graphics glitches, screen tearing, and other visual problems can sometimes be traced to HA settings. Turning it off can help determine if these issues are related to the GPU’s handling of graphics tasks.
  • For Specific Application Needs: Certain applications or services may perform better without hardware acceleration. For instance, some users working with graphic design or video editing tools find that turning off HA provides a more consistent experience in these applications.
  • To Manage System Resources: On systems with limited resources, disabling HA can help manage and allocate system resources more effectively. This is particularly important in multitasking environments where balancing resource use is crucial.

:)

I think this helps you!  ?

Hi,

Normally users don't turn off HA unless they use a global setting in their device (laptop/phone/tablet) and the device does it for them. Is super hard to find a single user that goes through all the settings and manually toggles them.

The latest version of Chrome is 127 so the version you're reporting is a bit outdated. As far as I know most devices will autoupdate the version  of the browser while in others it has to be done manually.

Finally I checked the website you linked and I can't see any animation in it. What issue that is GSAP related you have with it?

Happy Tweening!
